Summary
This guide explains how to integrate Abre with ClassLink, a FERPA-compliant platform for roster provisioning and Single Sign-On (SSO).
What This Integration Does
- ClassLink provides a secure data exchange for basic staff and student information.
- Districts can either connect their Student Information System (SIS) directly to ClassLink or manually upload CSV files.
- ClassLink syncs this data with Abre via API.
Limitations
- ClassLink API only shares basic data: students, staff, schools, and classes.
- Additional data (e.g., demographics, attendance, behavior, grades) must be exported from your SIS and uploaded to Abre separately.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the integration, ensure the following:
- Abre Data Monitoring Center Administrator or System Administrator permissions in Abre
- ClassLink subscription (paid)
- ClassLink Administrator permissions
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Add Abre as an Application in ClassLink
- Follow the ClassLink Instructions here and log into ClassLink Roster Server.
- Navigate to Applications.
- Use the search bar to find Abre.
- Click Add Abre as an application.
- Adjust sharing rules as needed:
- Ensure all students and staff members are shared with Abre.
Step 2: Notify Abre
After adding Abre in ClassLink, inform the Abre team:
- Email support@abre.com.
- Mention that you have successfully added Abre as an application in ClassLink.
Step 3: Abre Syncs Your Data
Once notified, Abre will begin syncing your ClassLink data. You will be informed when the process is complete.
Step 4: Share Additional Data with Abre
Since ClassLink does not share demographic or other supplemental data, you will need to manually provide these files from your SIS.
Example: Exporting Demographic Data
- Match the Abre Demographic template here.
- Export the file nightly via SFTP to Abre.
