When should I use a Liveboard instead of a Vera conversation?

Use Vera for quick exploration and follow-up questions. Use a Liveboard when you want a reusable view that you or others will check again—for example, a weekly attendance trend or a recurring leadership report.

How do I make a Liveboard easier to use?

• Give it a clear, specific name.
• Keep each tab focused on one topic.
• Put the most important information first.
• Use a small number of useful charts instead of many similar charts.
• Label time periods, measures, and filters clearly.
• Review the board as the intended audience before sharing it.

What does pinning a Liveboard do?

Pinning saves a board to your personal landing experience so it is easier to find again. Pin boards you check often. Pinning does not change the board for anyone else.

Why can I view a Liveboard but not edit it?

Shared Liveboards are generally read-only for recipients. This protects the original board. If a Copy option is available, copy the board to create your own editable version.

Why do I see Copy instead of Edit?

Edit is for a board you own and are allowed to change. Copy lets a viewer make a separate version without changing the original.

Can I ask Vera a question inside a Liveboard?

If in-board questioning is available, open the relevant chart and ask a focused follow-up such as "Show only grade 8" or "Use the last 30 days." The response stays connected to the board context and respects your data access.

How should I use filters and drill-downs?

Start with the broad view, apply one filter at a time, and note what changed. Use drill-down to understand which records are behind a total or trend. Clear old filters before beginning a different analysis so you do not mistake a filtered view for the full picture.

What happens when a Liveboard is shared with different users?

Each viewer sees only the data that their role permits. A district-level author may share the same board with several schools, while each building-level viewer sees only authorized school data.

Can I use a Liveboard in a meeting?

If presentation mode is available, you can show a board as a browser-based slideshow while keeping the data live and interactive. Use a PDF export when you need a fixed snapshot instead. Always review the audience, filters, and visible detail before presenting or exporting student data.

Why does a Liveboard look different from a classic dashboard?

A Liveboard may use different visual detail, filters, or calculations than a classic dashboard. First compare the population, timeframe, and definitions. If an important metric still looks unexpected, contact your district's Abre administrator or Customer Success Manager with the board name and the metric you are comparing.
