Limitations Built Into The Focus Extension
No matter what restriction setting a teacher selects, any focus lesson provides some baseline protection.
No Restrictions
"No restrictions" provides students with the most freedom possible within a focus lesson. When selected, students can freely navigate to any link, those connected to the current domain, or external websites.
Only Content Available on Above Websites
"Only content available on above websites" limits a students navigation by blocking any links that would send the user to an external domain. In other words, a student could freely explore all of a newspaper's website, but once they clicked on a link that did not start with the newspaper's URL, they would receive a "Restricted Access" message.
Only The Specific Links on Above Websites
"Only the specific links on above websites" is the Focus Extension's most restrictive setting. When selected, it limits students navigation to only the exact URL shared by a teacher. Students reading an article on a science website would be unable to access any other content beyond the specific URL within that browser.
