Abre offers the ability for certain student plan templates that your district has built inside of Abre (IEP, 504, RIMP, WEP, WAP, etc. to be assigned to students by a general staff member, while retaining the functionality for certain plans to be assigned by administrators only.
At the plan settings level (template), the “Assignability” setting allows Plan Administrators to enable if a specific plan type template can be assigned to students by standard staff members.

- By default this option will be disabled, meaning only Plan Administrators can assign the plan template to students. If this option is selected, a plan can be assigned to any student by a staff member in alignment with their building alignment permissions.
Assigning a Student Plan
- Navigate to Plans
- Select "View Plans" under Students Plans
- Search for or select the student you wish to assign a plan to.
- Once the student has been selected, click the "+" icon in the lower right-hand corner of the page.
- Select a plan from the "Choose a Plan Template" dropdown, then click "Create"
Once created, you will see the plan assigned to your student. You will also see the following information:
- "Name"
- "Updated" - The time/date the plan was last updated
- "Last Updated by" - Name of the staff member who last updated the plan
- "Status" - The status will be either Complete or Incomplete.
To edit the plan, simply click the plan name.
- At the plan settings level (template), a third optional setting has been developed alongside ‘Editability’ and ‘Visibility’, that allows Plan Administrators to enable if a specific plan type template can be assigned to students by standard staff members.
- By default this option will be disabled, meaning only Plan Administrators can assign the plan template to students. If this option is selected, a plan can be assigned to any student by a staff member in alignment with their building alignment permissions.
