An Overview of the Abre Learn App

Abre's Learn App allows all users to take and participate in self-paced learning experiences. Schools use these learning experiences to:

1. Educate staff and help them grow with professional development.
2. Provide micro-learning experiences to students.
3. Present information to families and give them the opportunities to learn about subjects that matter to them in their roles as caregivers.

For educators, the Learn App also has the ability to track all professional development in their career. This "living transcript" may then be used to renew educator licenses.

Definitions

Learn Course

A course created in the Learn App. Learn Courses are meant to be asynchronous and autonomous in most cases.

Topics

Each course is broken into topics.

Lessons

Each Topic can be broken into Lessons.

Points

A user can earn points by either completing a Learn Course OR by submitting a redemption code.

Schools can define the value of a point (its meaning can be limitless). Most schools define 1 point equaling 1 minute of learning. This definition is most useful when aligning licensure renewal requirements.

Badges

Badges represent significant milestones such as completing Learn courses or crossing a specific point threshold. Badges are unique and assigned to you after the completion of a course.

Profile

A person's profile in learn does the following:

1. Shows total points earned
2. Presents a transcript of learning
3. Allows the person to redeem points via a code
4. Shows Badges earned
