Overview
This article provides insight into the school year rollover process in Abre, and what districts can do to prepare.
IMPORTANT
Abre automatically pauses syncs on June 15th and removes pauses on July 1st unless you specify otherwise. You can request to modify these dates by reaching out to support@abre.com.
During the pause, Abre will stop processing roster and third-party data updates and begin to archive data from the prior school year. This allows districts to make changes to their SIS data without interrupting student or teacher access to Abre over the summer. Current school year data will essentially be "frozen" in Abre for the duration of the sync pause.
Once the sync pause has ended, Abre will automatically resume syncing roster and third-party data information shared via automated direct export, or through one of our roster integration partners.
We recommend System Administrators review new roster data before the start of school to verify accuracy.
When the sync is paused
When your district's sync to Abre is paused:
- All staff will have access to an in-app Headline that indicates Sync is Paused.
- Please note:
- Rosters will not sync from your SIS to Abre during a pause, so changes made in your SIS will not interrupt student and teacher access to Abre
- SFTP uploads will not be processed, including third-party data shares, even if data is sent to Abre
- If you have a need to integrate non-automated third-party data during the pause, please contact Abre Support at support@abre.com
When the sync pause ends
When a district's sync pause ends:
- The Sync is Paused Headline will no longer be visible in the Abre environment.
- Abre will resume:
- Syncing with your SIS (auto-syncs through GG4L or Classlink) or processing your next SFTP upload (SFTP syncs)
- Processing third-party data via automated SFTP upload
Troubleshooting
If you are not seeing the current school year data in Abre:
1. Confirm that new data is actively syncing.
Reminder: The pause will take place from June 15th to July 1st. School Year Rollover will occur on July 1st, and new data shared will be associated with the current school year.
2. Confirm that data was synced to Abre after the pause was removed.
You will not see data for the next academic year in Abre until we receive a set of data after the pause is removed. If your new data was uploaded to Abre prior to the pause being removed, please reupload the data through your chosen integration method.
3. Confirm that you’re sending new year's data to Abre through SIS scheduled direct exports or through an autosync method (GG4L or Classlink)
To troubleshoot direct export issues, please contact the support team for your SIS.
4. Confirm that the information (staff, students, new school year course information) exists in your SIS
5. Confirm that data shared via direct export/SFTP matches Abre’s data documentation format requirements, including file formats, column headers, column header order, and required fields
