What’s New - April 2023
Abre Plans 2.0
Abre Plans now allows for broader collaboration for staff members when working on Student and Staff plans. Staff members will be able to edit student plans at various levels of permissioning at both the overall administration level and by leveraging more granular individual plan settings for collaboration.
- Plans Access for All
- New Landing Page
- Editability
- Assignability
Plans App exposure in App Drawer
All Staff members of districts who have purchased Abre Plans will now see the ‘Plans’ icon in the App drawer. Our prior functionality limited visibility to ‘Plans Administrator,’ ‘Plans Administrator (Building),’ and ‘System Admin’ permission sets.
New Plans App Landing Page
Staff accessing the Plans App via the App drawer will be directed to a new landing page featuring more intuitive plans organization based on their permissions.
Staff Members with no additional permission granted will have access to view ‘My Plans’ and ‘Student Plans.’
Staff Members with the Systems Administrator or Plans Administrator permission set will have access to view ‘My Plans,’ ‘Student Plans, ‘Staff Plans,’ ‘All Plans,’ and ‘Reports.’
- My Plans: Manage personal plans assigned to you. From here, you can view “Completed” personal development plans and modify those that are in “Draft” status. Plans Administrators can also add personal plans here.
- Student Plans: Manage plans assigned to individual students. From here, you can view “Completed” student plans and modify those that are in “Draft” status. You can also assign Plan templates that have been permitted as assignable by Staff directly to students.
- Staff Plans: Limited to Plans Administrators. Manage personal plans assigned to individual staff. From here, you can view “Completed” staff plans and modify those that are in “Draft” status. You can also assign Plans directly to staff.
- All Plans: Limited to Plans Administrators. Preview all building Plan templates for both students and staff and edit their Visibility, Assignability, and Editability Settings.
- Reports: Limited to Plans Administrators. Generate CSV or PDF reports of plans.
Enhanced Plans Template Settings
At the Plan template level, Plan creators can now specify unique Visibility, Assignability, and Editability Settings to enhance collaboration.
*Note: Only Plans Administrators and Systems Administrators can create plan templates.
Plans Visibility
Visibility settings function in the same way that they did before. Identify which stakeholder groups can view active (completed) plans in the Student360, including Staff and Family Members.
Sample Use Case 1: The Strategic Initiatives Team at Jordan School District has created a ‘Portrait of Graduate’ Plan to identify and track competencies and characteristics of high school students, beginning in Grade 9. This plan is visible to all Staff and follows the student through grade 12.
Sample Use Case 2: Jordan Elementary School has a School Based Intervention Team who reviews student intervention referral forms and leverages a Student Success Plan to align and monitor necessary student supports. Plan visibility is limited to family and staff who work directly with the student who is assigned the plan.
Enhanced Plans Assignability
Enables all Staff, beyond Plans Administrators, to assign the plan template to students in their building.
Sample Use Case 1: The Reading Specialists at Needham Elementary School have created a READ Plan template for all learners in grades K-3 who have not reached grade-level reading competency. Elementary educators are asked to assign these plans to qualifying students directly where one is not already in place.
Sample Use Case 2: Jordan Elementary School’s School-Based Intervention Team reviews student intervention referral forms and assigns Student Success Plans based on need and capacity. The SBIT team maintains control of Student Success Plan assignment.
Enhanced Plans Editability
Enables all Staff, beyond Plans Administrators, to modify the plan once it is assigned.
Sample Use Case 1: The Strategic Initiatives Team at Jordan School District has created a ‘Portrait of Graduate’ Plan to identify and track competencies and characteristics of high school students, beginning in Grade 9. This plan is editable by all Staff who work with the student throughout their high school experience. Collectively, these staff members observe and document the attainment of graduation competencies.
Override of Assignability/Editability
Plans Administrators can now enable small group collaboration to specific plan templates that have been assigned to students while maintaining non-editability for the broader plan template. This is accomplished through the Settings on the specific Plan after assignment.
Sample Use Case: Jordan Elementary School’s School-Based Intervention Team reviews student intervention referral forms and assigns Student Success Plans based on need and capacity. The SBIT team maintains control of Student Success Plan assignment and adds educators who work directly with the student as

Enhancements
- Wellness Check-In District Report Filter
- Within the ‘Wellness Check-in’ Insights dashboard (Category: Well-Being) a new filter has been added for ‘Staff Advisor Email’ to enable administrators to filter down by respective Wellness Advisors based on their follow-ups, comments and feedback to students.
- iReady, CogAT, Terranova, AimsWeb, STAR Student360 reports
- The Student360 Assessments tab is undergoing a transition away from all legacy ChartJS style reporting, to replace all historical visualizations with new Mode reports at the student level.
- Transition will begin with the April Release with the following reports being replaced from their previous ChartJS iteration:
- CogAT
- Terranova (Complete Battery - Inview has always been a Mode report)
- AimsWeb
- STAR
- iReady
- All reports follow the standard styling of a ‘Primary’ and ‘Secondary’ report structure with the primary report rendered on load of the S360 assessments tab and the secondary report providing deeper level analytics and visualizations.
- Districts will see no impact beyond loading times typical of Mode reports, districts that currently see student results with the ChartJS reports will continue to see reports in the new Mode styling - No updates required via CS for data integration or alignment.
- Public Embed Capability for Insights
- In order to support districts who wish to more broadly communicate with their community stakeholders, DaaS dashboards only now have the ability to be feature flagged for public embed ability.
- DaaS project managers will own the responsibility of vetting and ‘clearing’ a dashboard for public embed capability. Based on a thorough understanding of the use case for public exposure, and ensuring no ability to expose identifying information within the dashboard (including the ability to identify small subsets of students based on demographics) - DaaS managers will feature flag within the database specific reports to be active for public embed.
- Once flagged in the DB, accessing the specific report within Abre Insights will expose a ‘Publish to the Web’ button
- ‘Publish to the Web’ will expose a modal that allows administrators to then toggle if the Dashboard should be accessible on the web, and render both links for insertion as well as the ability to directly insert iFrame embeds.
- On the backend, Abre will track the history of who has enabled this public sharing at the district side in order to understand which personnel has made the decision to publish the dashboard.
- App Specific Insight Reports
- Creation of standard app-specific reports that currently reside in Abre Insights. These reports will ultimately reside within their respective apps (parallel process to Partners Reports and Behavior Reports) but for purposes of providing sales as well as Insight administrators line of sight to how Abre native data collection is being captured in the platform, these reports will also be stored in the below respective Insight categories.
- Learn Course / PD - Staff
- People - Staff
- Hub - Family Engagement
- Focus - Academics
- Behavior v2.0 - Behavior
- App specific reports within their respective applications will be released simultaneously once all apps have a dedicated report (May/June Release).
- KRA (Kindergarten Readiness Assessment) v2.0 report
- Created an updated version of the KRA report based on feedback from Southwest LS via DaaS engagement.
- New template created + associated DB table (abre_kra_v2)
- Provides details on Math and Literacy scores, as well as overall performance band distributions.
